Features

Everything a campaign needs, in one place

The goal is to reduce the number of tools a game master needs to open to prepare and run a session.

Living map

World map, scene and combat maps, points of interest, and character journeys, all connected.

📖

Integrated wiki

Characters, NPCs, places, and GM secrets linked directly to points on the map.

Simple combat

Configurable grid, tokens, initiative, HP, conditions, dice, and fog of war — without a professional VTT's learning curve.

🔒

Local and private

Your campaign stays on your computer. No mandatory account, no dependence on a third-party server to play at the table.

🖥

Second screen

Separate GM and player views, ready to project or use on a TV.

💾

Your data, always yours

Export, back up, and restore your campaign whenever you want, without depending on an online service's availability.

Why it's different

Not just another virtual tabletop

Many virtual tabletop tools focus on combat. Wizard Canvas treats the whole campaign — not just the battle map — as the main product.

  • Wiki and map stay in sync: opening a point on the map already leads to the right page.
  • GM notes and secrets are separated from what players see, without workarounds.
  • No subscription: a one-time purchase, with offline access to your local campaign files.
  • Built for in-person tables and a second screen first, not only remote multiplayer.

Frequently asked questions

Before you email us

Do I need internet to play?

No. The initial version runs locally on the GM's computer and can show the player view in another window, screen, TV, or projector connected to that computer. Network and internet access are planned for later.

Does it work with systems other than fifth edition?

Not yet in the first version. Support for other systems is one of the first things we plan to prioritize after launch, depending on demand.

Will there be remote play over the internet?

Not in the Founder's Edition. Remote access is planned as a future version, likely as a separate paid upgrade.

Windows, Mac, or Linux?

Windows is the priority platform at launch. Mac and Linux come later, if there's enough demand.

Is this tied to a licensed fantasy setting?

No. Wizard Canvas is an independent project, and the commercial edition will contain only original or properly licensed material.
